Mixture insulin may be a good option to help manage blood sugar levels throughout the day and at meals. Mixture insulin contains both rapid-acting and longer-acting insulin to do this. One of the leaders in diabetes care for more than 80 years, Lilly offers two types of mixture insulins. Humalog Mix75/25 and Humalog Mix50/50 are for use in patients with diabetes to control high blood sugar.

This section will help you understand mixture insulin, from its benefits and side effects, to how it is taken. Only your healthcare provider can know which Humalog mixture insulin might be best for you or your loved one, so be sure to discuss your individual needs with your healthcare team.

It's in the mix
Wondering what the numbers "75/25" and "50/50" mean in the products' names? They refer to the percentages of longer-acting insulin and rapid-acting insulin in the mix. Humalog Mix75/25 is a mixture of 75% longer-acting insulin (insulin lispro protamine suspension) and 25% rapid-acting insulin (insulin lispro). Similarly, Humalog Mix50/50 is a mixture of 50% longer-acting insulin and 50% rapid-acting insulin. Only your healthcare provider can tell you which Humalog mixture insulin is right for you.
